How Far Ahead Should You Book a Caterer?

How Far in Advance Should You Book a Caterer?

Book a full-service caterer about 2–6 months ahead for most parties and business events, and 8–12 months ahead for a peak-season wedding (May–October Saturdays). Food trucks book 1–4 months ahead. Restaurant trays and drop-off catering often need only 2–14 days, but holiday season (November–December) fills early.

The best caterers fill up first on the dates everyone wants: Saturdays from May to October and the holiday party season. Booking early also gives you time to taste menus and compare quotes.
